Wonderful photos of Twyla and Siro...and Suri

Mark V. Turner, an artist from Delaware, who manages to catch a visit to Cabrini Dog Park whenever he can slip one in...has gotten to know some of the regulars there. The other day he sent us a couple of wonderful portrait shots he made of Twyla and Siro. Twila's pic is from January 2008 and Siro's is dated December 2011. And he also found a picture of Suri that he took as she stood guarding the front porch in January 2006.

Darling Rosie

Sweet little Rosie will be missed by Gary, Hannah and all her friends at the dog park.

QUINCY — gone, but never forgotten.

Great Dane International Champion "Rojon's Believe in Magic"...the beautiful Quincy...quietly and suddenly passed away on Christmas morning. Anyone who met her knows how sweet she was...the epitome of the Great Dane "gentle giant" distinction.

She belonged to our wonderful friend in Lake Charles, Paula Stebbins... who brought "Q" to visit us in the French Quarter where she met our pups and we all had an outing at the dog park.

Larry captured some of that visit on these videos he created after Quincy got her Canadian Championship.

We will all miss Quincy ... but no one more than Paula. Our hearts are with you, sweetheart.

Sleep well, Bart.

Happy 7th Birthday to Eddie & Bridget's wonderful litter!

We can't believe it's been 7 years since Suri, Siro, Twyla and all their brothers and sisters were beautiful tiny little goofy Dane puppies.
Who knew they'd grow up to be beautiful, BIG, goofy Great Dane adults.
Happy 7th Birthday to Siro and Twyla and all their siblings...and Suri, too, of course.

Bill and Dirdre sent Bart over to join the celebrations.
After planning his strategy, he kindly brought along his own giant slice of pink cake just in case the kids didn't have any. But not to worry, they had a very lovely birthday cake of their own.

Hornets 2009-2010 Season

It was great for the Hornets to win their last home game of the season. It's so much fun to go out of the Arena with a smile on your face. The Hornets have made it a very entertaining experience for us all, which is one of the reasons we keep on going to the games even when things aren't looking great for the team.
The Fates weren't kind to the guys this year. They kept getting injured. I'm hoping that we got that over with this season and the next one will be a better one for the team, the coaches and the fans.

We love Jeff Bower and hope and pray that the new majority owner feels the same way. Jeff has been a superb General Manager. As for coaching...we wouldn't have seen the talent we have in our younger players if we had continued under Byron Scott. We want to see Jeff back with the team next season...in whatever role he needs to play. I think he deserves a promotion!

Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton turned out to be the best rookie acquisitions the Hornets ever got in a year. They really met the challenge that was handed to them.

I liked Byron Scott but he wasn't a teacher. He only feels comfortable with older players and didn't have the courage to play the great young players that were brought in for him. And from what I've heard, he also intimidated the younger players so much that they were scared if him. That's not how you develop a team. What's the sense of having a good draft if you never get to see them play?

Bob Licht and Gil McGregor with CST are the very best at what they do, too. The most I've learned about NBA basketball I've learned from a handful of people. Starting with Larry, my husband, who knows enough about the game to be a referee. He's a font of basketball intellience and often tells me what happened a second or two before I hear it from the other "coaches" I've had...Gil and Bob, Doug Collins and Hubie Brown. When I watch a game they preside on I know I'm going to learn something, so I pay very close attention.

Watching other games, the only feeling I get is that I'm watching groups of "homers" whose teams can do no wrong and every call against them is a bad one.

It will be very interesting to see how the Hornets Experience changes from a fan's point of view. I hope that feeling of "You're part of the Hornets Family" doesn't disappear. It's a great plus. All the fans enjoy talking to one another after seeing the same faces every year. It's like a huge party....and they're all glad you came.

Even the people who work in the Arena are wonderful...they know their areas and guard them like Fort Knox to keep them safe for their family of fans.

We want to give a huge thank you to Linda, Ramona, Gerolyn, Robin, Earnest, Gabe and Bud for watching over us. You make us feel very safe and protected.

I know I haven't covered everyone...all the people who sit in our area, the announcers and entertainers and scorekeepers, etc. but they are all part and parcel of one of the greatest experiences we've ever had...and worth the cost.

I hope next season I can say the same thing.

“THORNTON HEARS A WHO DAT"

On one of the rare days I was well enough to go to a game this winter, my photo was taken and used in an article on Hornets.com. I was holding up a super sign Larry made for Marcus Thornton, one of our two awesome rookies. Darren Collison is our other talented rook.

"WHO DAT", of course, is unique to New Orleans...as in "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints?" Now, sports fans in New Orleans are known as the "Who Dat Nation".

Bob Licht used the pic in his "Bob Licht: In the Lane" column featuring his "In the Lane 2010 Awards". He had suggested the theme while chatting with us before one of the games and Larry had fun with it. He's so good at this!

You can read Bob's column and see the pic here:
Another of Larry signs, "BOWER-Y BOYZ", referring to Coach/GM Jeff Bower, came in 3rd.

Thanksgiving 2009....and Twyla & Siro's new dogpark buddy

Me and my sweet brother Jay from Larry's video.

Larry just finished putting together two new videos. The first one is video from the annual Thanksgiving feast at Steff's house. It's always so wonderful to get together with the people you love.

The second one is Twyla and Siro playing with their new friend at the dog park. She's a sweetie...and a very brave one at that!

Larry did a fantastic job with these...as usual. And he always picks the perfect melodies to go with them.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
